Greek Emerging Leaders
WE NEED YOUR HELP
In recent years, the Office of Student Activities & Greek Life has worked to expand its programs for fraternity and sorority members. Working in conjunction with campus partners, the Office and the students have started initiatives to help develop new members and current chapter and council leaders. Programs such as the Greek Leaders Retreat and the New Member Education Curriculum have exposed members of the community to topics that have not only impacted their work as students, but have also helped them develop skills crucial to their life after graduation.
After seeing the success of our current programs, and after hearing feedback from students and alumni, the Office is now looking to create a program to develop sophomore emerging leaders. This program will provide valuable leadership and skill development to sophomore fraternity and sorority members that will be directly applicable to them as future leaders of the community and in organizational leadership roles after graduation. We will provide a structured space in which members of multiple organizations may interact to develop relationships and discuss challenges faced by their organizations and organizations, companies, and communities globally. Finally, we view this as an opportunity to foster a greater connection between future fraternity and sorority leaders and campus partners to create a stronger sense of community and increased affinity to the College.
This program seeks to develop not just future presidents, but all students who wish to have a leadership role in their organizations. While the future success of the community will be put in their hands, the success of this program is being put in yours. As a new initiative, the opportunities and experiences we are able to offer to the students depends on you.
Our hope is that this program will include facilitated workshops on leadership development; internal and external speakers; experiential learning opportunities in the local community; and experiential learning trips cosponsored with campus partners such as the Garthwait Leadership Center and GRAB.
We recognize that such an undertaking will require many resources, but as the College continues to commit to Greek Life, our office and campus partners are ready to do our part. We now ask for you all, as friends and alumni of the Greek community, to rise to the challenge, We need your help to provide an impactful opportunity for the future leaders of our fraternities and sororities to ensure that Gettysburg College Greek Life remains vibrant and successful for many years to come.
Thank you for your support!
