Thank you!

February 21, 2017

When I first began working with the College on our fundraising efforts for this year, I remember thinking how ambitious our goal of $75,000 was. Our team was confident, though, and so was I, that this ambitious goal was also achievable.

Little did any of us realize how quickly we would blow past that goal in the first few days of our crowd funding efforts. By the end two weeks, we’ve raised over $78,000 and have seen an outpouring of support from loyal alumni, parents, and friends of the College. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again—I am truly humbled by the generosity of this community and your commitment to your alma mater.

The timing couldn’t be more perfect. This past Friday, we’ve received 12 applications from 25 different students who all have aspirations to be the next Entrepreneurial Fellows.

In the weeks that follow, our alumni mentors will be working with these students to revise their proposals and perfect their business pitches before the finalists presentations in April. We’ll keep you informed through regular updates about the Fellowship and the success of past and future winners. If you are interested in becoming more involved with this program, please contact me. There are plenty of opportunities to get involved as a mentor or speaker.

In the meantime, I can’t thank you enough for your past and continued support of this program. Our students thank you. The College thanks you. And as you receive updates about this program in the coming months and years, I hope you’ll see that thanks conveyed in the outcomes and success of our program.

We did it!

February 14, 2017

We did it. We blew past our $75,000 goal for the Entrepreneurial Fellowship and we did it even before the deadline ended! I continue to be awe struck by the generosity of this community and your commitment to your alma mater. As you can probably tell, I am very passionate about the Entrepreneurial Fellowship, I truly believe this program is vital in equipping students with the type of skill set they need to thrive after Gettysburg. Whether or not they spearhead their own entrepreneurial venture after they graduate, the entrepreneurial mindset is one we all know to be important in the work place. Motivation. Innovation. Resiliency. Focus. All of these skills are acquired through this program and now, with your generous support, even more students will be able to have this experience.

To date, we’ve received 12 applications from 25 students hoping to become an Entrepreneurial Fellow. The number of applications for this program continue to rise each year and the ventures these students propose run the gamut. All of them hold promise and all of them are filled with passion.

Now that you've supported the program, you'll begin to receive updates about the Fellowship and the success of past and future winners. If you are interested in becoming more involved with this program, please contact me. There's plenty of opportunities to get involved as a mentor or speaker.

All that being said, we still have time to raise money for this program. Our deadline ends on Feb. 16, which coincides with our Gettysburgives Challenge.  As part of the Challenge, if the College receives donations from 2,558 donors and 125 new or increased sustaining gifts in just 36 hours, we'll earn an additional $425,000 for our students from 10 generous donors. A gift to the Entrepreneurial Fellowship will count as a gift towards the Challenge and towards Gettysburg Great: The Campaign for Our College. Share with your friends, families, and colleagues—there is still time to make an impact!

$10,000 more to go!

February 07, 2017

Since launching our crowdfunding campaign last week, we have raised nearly 90% of our overall goal. The generous support and commitment we all have for our alma mater, and for this innovative program, is truly humbling—but there’s more work to be done. We still need to raise $10,000 over the next 9 days to meet our goal.

I hope that you've taken the opportunity to look at the "donor wall" on the crowd funding website to notice the ecosystem this program has created. Not only have entrepreneurial-minded alums and parents donated, but so have past winners of the Fellowship. What this says about this program, and the impact it's had on these students, is truly incredible. Their desire to give back (both monetarily and in some cases, as mentors for future fellows) is inspiring.

While reflecting on the success this program has had since its inception always makes me proud of what we’ve created, nothing humbles me more than to see how many others are committed to this  vision, too.

This is a big task, but one that I am confident we can accomplish together.

If you haven’t donated yet, make sure you do! All of the money goes directly to the students, and with the support of their parent and alumni mentors, helps them hone their business skills and launch their first venture.

If you have donated, share this with your friends, family, and colleagues. Let them know why this program is important to you and why it should be important to them, too.

Help us ensure that Gettysburg entrepreneurs will continue to have an impact, both in their communities and within their professions. Every dollar counts, and a donation to this program counts as a donation to the College and the Gettysburg Great Campaign—which is tax deductible.
