Thank you!

November 04, 2016

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the athletics live video stream fundraising effort! We’re happy to report we have met our goal of raising $13,000 and can move forward in purchasing the equipment to upgrade our live video production!

It was an amazing effort to watch unfold and we cannot thank enough the 68 donors who contributed to this project over the last month. We are extremely excited to get the equipment and make our live video feed the best in the Centennial Conference and one of the best in the country.

It’s going to take a little bit of time to get acquainted with the new setup and ensure all the moving parts are in perfect working order, but we hope to have everything situated and ready to go by the start of next semester. As we move forward with the equipment, the Office of Athletic Communications will send out updates via social media.

Thank you again for your support and Go Bullets!

Final Day to Support Live Video Upgrade

November 01, 2016

Just one day remains in the campaign to raise funds supporting an upgrade to the live video streaming equipment for varsity athletic events at Gettysburg College.

We’d like to extend a big thank you to all the donors who have already supported the project. Over the last few weeks, nearly 60 donors have raised 70% of the $13,000 needed to purchase the new equipment. More than $5,000 of that total has come in the last week alone following generous contributions by our alumni, parents, coaches, and supporters.

You can pledge your support at https://impact.gettysburg.edu/project/2892 and please share this information with your friends and family who might be interested in this project. The more supporters we have, the more likely we are to meet our goal.

Gettysburg has maintained live video streaming for home athletic events for nearly a decade, but this new equipment will give us more capabilities such as instant replay and multiple camera angles. Additionally, this setup will provide hands-on learning for our students interested in the field of communications and video production. The proposed package includes the TriCaster Mini, produced by NewTek, as well as the control surface, a road case for storage and mobility, instant replay controller, and various cables and converters.

Below are the sports which will feature live video:

Baseball (Coming Spring 2017), Basketball, Field Hockey, Football, Lacrosse, Soccer, Swimming, Volleyball, and Wrestling.

One Week Left!

October 26, 2016

The Department of Athletics and Office of Athletic Communications are asking for your help in raising funds to support an upgrade to our live video streaming equipment.   For nearly a decade, the majority of home sporting events at Gettysburg College have been streamed via live video. The setup has remained largely the same with only minor changes throughout the years.   Now, we have an opportunity to completely upgrade our live streaming production. This new advanced equipment will give the department more options for multiple camera angles and instant replay, all at a high-quality resolution. The proposed package includes the TriCaster Mini, produced by NewTek, as well as the control surface, a road case for storage and mobility, instant replay controller, and various cables and converters.   This setup will be run by the students themselves and will provide them with a unique experience which will strengthen their professional skills as they prepare for life after Gettysburg College. The Office of Athletic Communications will oversee and guide the students' work with the new equipment.   However, we need your help! With just one week remaining in this crowdfunding project (Nov. 2), we still need to raise $9,000 toward our goal of $13,000. Please consider making a gift to help ensure that alumni, parents, and friends of Gettysburg can enjoy high-quality live streaming of their favorite sports. We thank you in advance for helping to upgrade our live video equipment and enabling Gettysburg College to be  one of the top producers of live video content in Division III.   Below are the sports which currently feature live video:   Baseball (Coming Spring 2017!) Basketball Field Hockey Football Lacrosse Soccer Swimming Volleyball Wrestling   For more information on the TriCaster Mini, visit: http://www.newtek.com/products/tricaster-mini.html.

One week down - three to go!

1. Enhance the resolution quality of our livestream broadcasts

2. Add replay capabilities

3. Upgrade our on-screen graphics

4. Provide our Sports Information student employees great experience working with state-of-the-art technology

Thank you again for your outstanding generosity!
